Hench Customer Case: Singapore University — Hot Pressing of Polymer-Sensitive Materials

1月 29, 2026

概要

This solution combines a manual heated press with a glovebox, addressing the critical need for environmental protection during the hot pressing of highly sensitive, easily oxidized, hygroscopic, and highly reactive samples. It has been widely applied in lithium batteries, advanced materials, semiconductors, and academic research. Below are real-world application examples from diverse industries, detailing solution adaptation, implementation results, and customer feedback.

Hot Pressing of Polymer-Sensitive Materials

Customer Background & Key Requirements

The Materials Science and Engineering Department of a Singaporean university focuses on the development of highly active polymer materials and flexible electronic materials. Their research involves hot pressing novel polymer powders into flexible films for subsequent mechanical and electrical performance testing.

These polymer materials are extremely sensitive to oxygen and moisture; open-environment hot pressing causes degradation, leading to film brittleness and performance failure. Additionally, the research team frequently adjusts hot pressing parameters (temperature, pressure, dwell time), requiring equipment that is user-friendly, allows precise parameter control, and supports an English interface.

Customized Solution

To meet the customer’s international research environment and material-specific requirements, Hench provided a tailored solution:

  • Core Equipment: YPH-800 Series Manual Heated Press (manual hydraulic drive, 30-step heating control, fixed upper hot plate, adjustable heating rate suitable for thin samples, ±1℃ temperature control accuracy, supports English/Chinese interface). The press was integrated with the customer’s glovebox (operating chamber 1500×900×800 mm, H₂O/O₂ ≤ 0.1 ppm, argon atmosphere, equipped with high-precision online monitoring).
  • Service & Support: Full project tracking by the international sales manager, provision of bilingual product manuals and technical training, assistance with equipment integration and commissioning, sharing process parameter references for similar polymer materials.
  • Auxiliary Configuration: Dedicated molds; optional accessories include high-temperature insulating gloves and a glovebox internal cold-air cooling system to accelerate sample cooling and demolding.

Application Results & Customer Feedback

After implementation, the customer achieved full-process inert-atmosphere hot pressing of sensitive polymer materials. The resulting flexible films were smooth, free of brittleness, and exhibited excellent repeatability in mechanical and electrical performance tests, meeting publication standards. The manual press offered intuitive and stable operation, allowing precise control of pressing speed and dwell time within the glovebox. The bilingual interface further facilitated operation in an international research environment.

Customer feedback from the R&D team:
“The equipment is stable, user-friendly, and effectively addresses the challenges of processing sensitive polymer materials. The technical support was professional and timely, greatly facilitating our research work.”
