High-Quality Cylindrical Dies for Industrial Pellet Molding

Our Cylindrical Dies are engineered to deliver precision and durability in every pellet molding process. Crafted from premium materials and manufactured to tight tolerances, each HMY die forms cylindrical pellets with a consistent diameter, density and surface finish.

With our advanced pellet die technology, sample preparation becomes fast, accurate and safe. Every cavity is hardened and ground so the pellet releases cleanly and the die keeps its dimensions after repeated high-pressure cycles.

Hench Technology has over 30 years of experience in precision die manufacturing. As a trusted industrial pellet die supplier, we focus on innovation, quality and customer satisfaction.

HMY Cylindrical Die Range

The HMY series covers sample diameters from 2.0 mm up to 200 mm across three standard die bodies. One supplier can therefore cover micro-pellets for spectroscopy as well as large discs for industrial compaction.

Model Sample size Cavity depth Body size Weight
HMY 2.0-6.0 / 6.1-14.9 / 15.0-25.9 / 26.0-40.9 mm 20 / 30 / 40 / 45 mm 43x78 to 73x133 mm 0.55-2.9 kg
HMY 41.0-50.9 / 51-60 / 61-70 / 71-80 mm 55 / 60 / 65 / 70 mm 88x150 to 118x150 mm 5.1-11.5 kg
HMY 81-90 / 91-100 / 101-110 / 111-120 mm 65 mm 128x180 to 168x180 mm 14-40 kg

Die material and hardness

All HMY dies are machined from 9Cr18 high-carbon chromium bearing steel and hardened to HRC58. The polished bore and lapped face keep friction low, which helps the powder compact evenly and reduces the risk of edge chipping when the pellet is ejected.

How to choose the cavity diameter

Start from the analysis method, not from the press. A cavity that is too small limits the amount of sample in the beam; a cavity that is too large needs more force to reach the same compaction pressure. The three HMY bodies are sized so that a single press can serve several methods by changing the die alone.

  • 2.0-40.9 mm bodies keep the mass low and are convenient for routine spectroscopy and small sample volumes.
  • 41-80 mm bodies balance sample volume against the force available on a benchtop press.
  • 81-200 mm bodies produce large discs; the 14-40 kg die weight is a useful reminder that the press and handling bench must be rated for it.

Compatibility and handling

The HMY bodies are designed to work with the laboratory hydraulic presses and accessory ranges supplied by Hench. Because cavity depth varies from 20 mm to 70 mm across the series, confirm the fill depth of your powder against the die you select before ordering.

Store dies clean and lightly protected; a scored bore will transfer its marks to every pellet that follows.

Request a cylindrical die quotation

Send the target pellet diameter, cavity depth, sample material and the press you intend to use. The Hench team will confirm the matching HMY body and quote it together with any adapter you need. Contact us to request a configuration.
