Principle of Instrument

The ENERGY-30 FITR instrument operates on the interferometer frequency modulation principle. Infrared light emitted from the source passes through the Michelson interferometer to create interference light, which then irradiates the sample. The receiver collects the interference light carrying sample information, and specialized software processes it via Fourier transform to generate a precise sample spectrum.

Experimental Principle

The ATR module is based on internal light reflection. Infrared light passes through a high-refractive-index crystal and projects onto a lower-refractive-index crystal. When the incidence angle exceeds the critical angle, part of the light penetrates the sample surface and returns, experiencing selective absorption. This generates a reflected spectrum analogous to transmitted absorption, revealing structural information about the chemical composition of the sample’s surface layer.
