Multi ATR Reflective Attachment

Conventional transmission spectra can be measured by pressing sheet or liquid

poolmethod, but for some special samples, refractory, refractory and difficult

to crushsamples (such as plastic, nylon, rubber, asphalt, resin, etc.), there are

problems insample preparation. Attenuated Total Refraction (ATR) infrared

accessories are the perfect soluton to these problems. lt has the characteristics

of simple sample pre.paration, non-destructive, high detection sensitivity,

no special requirements for sample size and water content, small

measurement area, etc. ATR accessories can alsobe used to test conventional

liquid and solid powder samples.

Product Detail

Multi-ATR Reflective Attachment Product Description

The Multi Reflection ATR accessory is designed to simplify the infrared analysis of samples that are difficult to prepare using conventional transmission methods. For materials like plastics, nylon, rubber, asphalt, resins, or other refractory and hard-to-crush samples, preparing a traditional pellet or liquid sample can be time-consuming and challenging. The ATR Reflective attachment solves these problems with non-destructive testing, high detection sensitivity, minimal sample requirements, and easy handling. It can also be used for conventional liquid and solid powder samples, making it versatile for a wide range of laboratory applications.

Principle and Functionality

The Multi-ATR accessory operates on the principle of attenuated total reflection. Infrared light passes through a crystal with a high refractive index, and when the incident angle exceeds the critical angle, total internal reflection occurs. A portion of the light penetrates the surface of the sample and is selectively absorbed depending on its chemical composition. The reflected light intensity decreases accordingly, producing an infrared spectrum that provides structural information about the surface layer of the sample. This method enables efficient qualitative analysis without extensive sample preparation.

Simple and Reliable Operation

Using the Multi-ATR Reflective Attachment:

  1. Place the sample directly against the ATR crystal, ensuring the flat side is in contact.

  2. Tighten the hand twist to secure the sample.

  3. Perform testing with a Fourier Transform Infrared (FTIR) spectrometer to obtain the sample spectrum.

  4. Analyze the spectrum by identifying characteristic infrared peaks.

Note: After testing, clean the ATR indenter and other parts with anhydrous ethanol and ensure the sample compartment is dry and free of residue. This ensures accurate results and prolongs the life of the accessory. Multi-ATR is also compatible with ir sample preparation procedures for both liquid and solid powders.
